The weekend events at Stetson poster was created as a center spread, pull-out page for the magazine Visual. The magazine was intended for perspective students ages 16-19. The approach to the poster was to create a vibrant and modern design that would a increase the typical student engagement with a print piece.

The Dark Corner poster was designed to advertise a lecture by the author, Mark Powell, speaking about his newly released book, The Dark Corner. The book is about troubled priest haunted by the images of the Iraq War and Abu Ghraib. The priest heads home to the mountains of northwestern South Carolina, the state’s “dark corner,” where a gathering storm of private grief and public rage awaits him.
The imagery I chose for the poster emphasizes the dark and vast mountains of the Appalachians. The title fades in and out of the hills. The event information is concise and organized for quick readability.
