The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has an annual awards show for each of the respective districts. My employer, Stetson University, is in the district III region, which includes the colleges and universities in the Southeastern United States. The CASE entry criteria for the awards include writing, editing, professional execution of publications and websites, design, technical quality and creativity.
On February 19, 2015 at the Renaissance SeaWorld hotel in Orlando, the CASE awards banquet awarded my entry, the Vinegar Tom theater poster with the Award of Excellence for graphic design.
The Vinegar Tom theater poster was created for the Stetson University Theatre Arts production of the play. The play examines the gender and power of relationships through the lens of 17th century witchcraft trials in England. A closer look at the cat’s eye in my poster design will reveal the one of the many disturbing events about the witchcraft trials, a woman hanging from a noose.
